I have considered about hosting my own site or blog for some time. The reason is having a free hosting for your blog or any site for that matter is not the safest thing. Well, basically nothing is safe, but with free hosting, the chances of losing your blog or site just like that is much higher. Despite my intention to get my own hosting, in the end I let the matter rest for the time being. Reason being I just don't have that much time to figure out how to transfer everything to a new web host.
Nevertherless, while I was searching for the right web hosting for myself, I did read that Hostgator is one of the best web hosting out there. I tried their webhosting trial for a couple of days. One thing I know, their customer service is really good.
Back to the topic of finding the right hosting choices, I read on Kaushal Sheth's blog where he listed his choice of the best webhostings there is. His 3 choices for best webhostings are:
1. Host monster
2. Host gator (I told you they would be in one of the best)
3. Yahoo host
They are on the top of the best webhost lists due to their great offers and good customer service. You may be able to choose a better offer than what they give but terrible customer service, or good customer service but not so good on the offer side. Better to have the best of the combination when it comes to web hosting.
So to those who are really serious about getting your own web host, you might consider one of these first before you move to other choices. These are just opinions, but what really matters is how comfortable one is with a certain service provider.
